Chukauni (Nepali Potato & Yogut salad Recipe)~

Chukauni is a Potato and yogut salad originated from Nepal . Chukauni is comfort food of nepal. We can eat chukauni with rice or Plain roti and with side dishes . It is reginal dish from western Nepal. It is a vegetarian recipe. I was introduced to chukauni , when i went to visit nepal.

Instructions to make Nepali chukauni :-

  1. Take 4 small potatoes.

2. Put them in a pressure cooker add 1 cup water and wait for 3-4 whistle . when potatoes are cooked . peel the skin of potatoes and chop them in small cubes.

3. Now cut 1 medium size onion(Fine chopped), 3-4 green chilles and 1/2 cucumber , 1/2 tbsp turmeric , 1 tbsp lemon juice.

4. Take 1 cup yogut . Add chopped potato , chopped onion, chopped chillies, add black pepper, red chilly powder(If you like more spicy) salt (as per your taste). Now take a small pan add 2 tbsp mustand oil let it be hot then add Black mustard seeds, curry leaves, hing , jeera and your tadka is ready . pour them in the mixture of yougut and your chukauni is ready to eat.

  • 1 Boild Potato ,1 cup Yogut(Dahi) , 1 medium size Onion ,1/2 tbsp Red chilly Powder , 1/2 Black pepper , 2 chopped green chilly.

  • Coriander leaves
